Fiber design
High-level and low-level fiber design for aerial and underground builds, drawn to your standards and ready for your engineer's review.
What you get
- High-level designServing areas, routes and fiber counts laid out for the whole build, with a first bill of materials.
- Aerial low-level designSpan-by-span routing on existing pole lines, with cable, strand, slack and splice locations called out.
- Underground low-level designConduit runs, handholes and vaults, with road and driveway crossings marked.
- Route and existing-utility analysisThe route is checked against existing utilities before the drawings are produced. Included in the design price.
- Construction notes and design calculationsThe notes and calculations your crews and reviewers expect, in your format. Included in the design price.
- Files you can build fromPDF sheet sets, AutoCAD drawings, shapefiles and KMZ, or the work done directly in your VETRO or IQGeo project.
What you send us
- The project boundary and the addresses or passings to be served.
- Field data for the route: pole data, photos or walkout notes.
- Your design rules: architecture, fiber counts, split ratios, cabinet and terminal sizes.
- Your drafting standards, symbols and sheet templates.
- User accounts, if you want the work done inside your own design platform.
How it is priced
By the unit, on a one-page work order agreed before work starts. The rate sheet comes with your pilot quote.
| perfoot | Aerial low-level design Route analysis, construction notes and calculations are included. |
| perfoot | Underground low-level design Priced separately from aerial. |
| perjob | High-level design Quoted per project, from the size of the serving area. |
What stays with your engineer
Your engineer sets the design rules, reviews the design and approves it for construction. Where a drawing needs a seal, it is your engineer's seal.
Common questions
Which design platforms can you work in?
If you design in VETRO or IQGeo, give the team named user accounts and the work is done in your project. Otherwise we deliver in ArcGIS, QGIS or AutoCAD formats, to your layer and symbol standards.
Do you do field walkouts?
No. The production team is in India and works from the field data you supply. If your data has gaps, we list them before design starts rather than guess.
What happens when the design needs changes?
Errors that are ours are corrected at our cost. Changes that come from new scope, new design rules or late field data are quoted before the work is done.
Who owns the design?
You do. Once a job is paid, the deliverables and the rights in them are yours to pass to your client.
Try it on a small package first
Send about 50 poles or 2 miles. You judge the result against your own standards and pay only for what you accept.
